Important Notice

Middle School Meeting Tuesday, February 27th from 6:30pm. ALL parents of students in grades 6, 7 & 8 are encouraged to attend. Significant changes to our Middle School will be shared.

Fine Arts

Queen of Angels offers a diverse Fine Arts Program for students in Kindergarten through Grade 9.

Critical thinking, problem solving, decision making, collaboration and communication, research and writing skills, . . . our Fine Arts program offers all this and more.  We prepare our students to think creatively, skillfully and 'outside the box' through a variety of mediums.

Dance has been prominent at Queen of Angels for many years. Mrs. Cleaves, along with a variety of staff members, have shared their talent for dance. Students at Queen of Angels have been given the opportunity to perform at various venues: St. Edwards Church, Cowichan Theatre, Cowichan and Victoria Music Festivals, Providence Farms Open Door Program. Be sure to check out a Grade 6 award winning performance of 'It's a hard knock life'  which was choreographed by Mrs. Cleaves. You will find it the video at the bottom of this page!

Our whole school takes part in one of two productions a year. Our Christmas Concert for grades KG-6 is held at the Cowichan Theatre, and our Fine Arts Evening for grades 7-9 is held at school. Extra-curricular drama class is offered to students in Grades 5 & 6. Teachers in the younger grades use drama as part of the class reading programs, they showcase their work through short plays held in the classroom.

Our music program, taught by Mrs. Kaehlen Allison, is for students in grades 5-9. Students in these grades take band twice a week and have the opportunity to perform at local events.
Vice Principal Mr. Pollard offers choir to students in grades 4-6 and Middle School students can choose to take music in their electives. Many of our teachers use music in their everyday teachings.

Speech Arts

Everyone needs a voice.  The ability to speak with power, clarity, and confidence is one of the best tools for success in today’s world. Speech Arts develops communication skills and nurtures creativity and artistic expression.  Students learn to use their voices to speak clearly and with purpose. Students from Queen of Angels have the opportunity to practice Speech Arts by participating in the Hector Macintosh and Island Catholic Schools (ICS) Speech competitions each year.

Visual Arts

Students bring to life their creative thoughts to life through Visual Arts. Our creative and imaginative teachers incorporate art into their classroom curriculum, and you will often find beautiful displays of students work throughout the hallways. For 6 weeks during January and February we offer the Artists and Angels program to all students in Grades 4-6. Talented artists from the Cowichan Valley are invited into our classrooms to work with students in their specialist field.  The students celebrate their creations through an annual art show during our OPEN HOUSE usually held in early February.

Grade 6, Intermediate Award Winning Performance Annie Hard Knock Life.

We have been very happy with Queen of Angels School. The teachers are very supportive and it's a joy to see our children grow into their independent selves while being nurtured and encouraged. The uniform gives them a sense of pride and belonging. We also enjoy interacting with like-minded parents who show a commitment to their children's education.
